Rangpur Riders defeated Sylhet Titans by 6 wickets, as veteran middle-order batter Mahmudullah played a fine cameo of 34 runs to seal the victory. His innings gave Riders a late surge in the second innings while chasing a modest target of 145 runs. By winning the match, they are now placed at the third position in the BPL 2026 points table.

From the bowling perspective, Faheem Ashraf remained the star bowler for Rangpur Riders. After having a bad game against Rajshahi Warriors, he came back with a fine spell to give Ranpur Riders an upper hand over Sylhet Titans. He took 3 wickets in the first innings while conceding just 18 runs in four overs.

Batting first, Sylhet Titans once again started the innings badly by losing openers early. The Pakistan opening batter, Saim Ayub, struggled to make big runs, as he got out after scoring just 11 runs. Rony Talukdar played some big shots initially, but he was also dismissed by Faheem Ashraf for 19 runs.

The captain of Sylhet Titans, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, then became the next disappointment. He lost his wicket for just 4 runs, giving Titans another jolt very early in the innings. All three batters struggled to cope with the pace of the wicket, as Riders bowled superbly by keeping things tight.

The middle order of Sylhet Titans then showcased some resistance, as Afif Hossain and Ethan Brookes played sensibly to take the innings forward. Their partnership allowed Titans to come back into the game, putting some pressure back on the Rangpur Riders.

The duo were going along nicely, however, a fine delivery by Mustafizur Rahman ended the resistance of Afif Hossain. He got out after scoring 46 runs, hitting 4 fours and a six. Soon after his dismissal, Ethan Brookes also got out after scoring 32 off 30 balls.

Once these two batters went back to the pavilion, the lower order of Sylhet Titans collapsed quickly. The in-form Azmatullah Omarzai didn’t perform well in today’s match, as he was dismissed by Faheem Ashraf for just 6 runs.

As a result, Sylhet Titans managed to score just 144 runs at the end of the first innings. Afif Hossain was their only star batter, as his fighting knock gave Titans a respectable total on the board.

Starting Cautiously While Chasing the Target

When Rangpur Riders came out to chase the target, they took a cautious approach in the Powerplay. Both openers ensured to play safely, however, Khaled Ahmed came up with a perfect delivery to dismiss Dawid Malan for 19 runs.

Litton Das then built a partnership with Kyle Mayers to take the scoreboard forward. He played with confidence until Saim Ayub dismissed him for 35 runs. His wicket made the match interesting, as Sylhet Titans started to apply pressure by bowling tight overs.

The match then became evenly balanced, but the arrival of Mahmudullah changed the tempo of the innings. He struck at a strike rate of 212 to score runs quickly in the end. Due to his powerful hitting, Rangpur Riders finally chased the target in the penultimate over for the loss of 4 wickets. Mahmudullah was also given the Player of the Match award due to his stunning ball striking that handed Riders a convincing victory over Sylhet Titans.
