Rangpur Riders defeated Chattogram Royals by 5 wickets, courtesy of some exceptional batting by Kyle Mayers. He led the batting charge of Riders in the second innings when they needed to chase 170 in 20 overs. Due to his explosive knock, Rangpur Riders got a strong batting foundation that allowed other batters down the order to seal the chase comfortably.

Chattogram Royals would be disappointed by their bowling effort, as they failed to defend a good total of 170 runs. Their attack was taken apart in the first six overs, as Kyle Mayers played aggressively to disrupt all their plans.

Batting first, Chattogram Royals got off to a great start, as their openers played with positive intent. Both Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington played confidently, as they knew the pitch was suitable for batting. Even after the dismissal of Mohammad Naim, Rossington continued to play his shots by trusting the pace and bounce of the Sylhet surface.

His partnership with Hasan Nawaz was great, as the duo dominated the Riders bowling attack by hitting boundaries consistently. Rossington was looking good for a big score, however, a ripper by Rakibul Hasan ended his batting show at the crease. He went back to the dugout after scoring 58 runs, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Hasan Nawaz then took the responsibility to play big shots, as he was the set batter at the crease after Adam Rossington. He played with confidence to rotate the scoreboard, giving Royals a bit of calmness in the middle. After playing a good knock of 46 runs, he was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman, who bowled exceptionally well for Rangpur Riders in today’s match.

The lower order of Chattogram Royals then launched a late assault in the death overs. Both Mahedi Hasan and Aamer Jamal played solid cameos that allowed Chattogram Royals to score 169 at the end of the first innings.

Kyle Mayers Stars in a Clinical Run Chase

When Rangpur Riders came out to chase the target, Kyle Mayers led the batting charge by playing ultra-aggressively. Despite losing Litton Das early, he continued to hit big shots to negate the pressure put on by Chattogram Royals. Batting at a strike rate of 200, he played a knock that gave Rangpur Riders a strong foundation in the chase of 170 runs in the second innings.

Kyle Mayers went back to the pavilion after scoring brisk 50 off just 25 balls. After his dismissal, Mahmudullah and Khushdil Shah dominated the Royals bowling attack in the middle overs. While Mahmudullah played a sensible knock to take the innings deep, Khushdil Shah batted aggressively to maintain a high scoring rate in the chase.

Due to their combined batting effort, Rangpur Riders got the batting impetus that was needed in the end. They chased down the target in the penultimate over, as Mahmudullah hit the winning runs to remain unbeaten. After defeating Chattogram Royals in this match, Rangpur Riders have now moved to the top of the points table, with four wins in five matches.
