Rajshahi Warriors registered a comfortable victory over Noakhali Express in the recent BPL encounter. Led by the brilliance of Muhammad Waseem, Rajshahi Warriors chased the target of 152 in 19 overs while losing just 6 wickets. It was a commanding performance from the Warriors that helped them to crush Noakhali Express for the second time in the ongoing tournament.
Batting first, Noakhali Express started the innings strongly. Their openers, Shahadat Hossain and Soumya Sarkar, took a cautious approach to keep wickets in hand. Soumya Sarkar played specifically well, as he smashed the opening attack of the Rajshahi Warriors confidently.
The partnership between the openers was going well until Ripon Mondol removed Shahadat Hossain for 30 runs. His dismissal brought the young Maaz Sadaqat to the crease, who looked out of form in today’s match. He also lost his wicket after scoring 7 runs, giving the Warriors a chance to come back into the match.
Meanwhile, Soumya Sarkar played sensibly without losing control after back-to-back wickets. He smashed a fighting fifty in the first innings, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes. Unfortunately, he couldn’t go big after that, as Hasan Murad dismissed him with a fine bowling spell.
Mohammad Nabi, who came out to bat at number four, then took the responsibility to take the innings deep. He struck confidently during the last few overs, giving Noakhali Express a much-needed batting impetus. Due to his timely 35 runs, Noakhali managed to score 151 at the end of the first innings.
From the bowling perspective, Rajshahi Warriors kept things tight throughout the innings. Ripon Mondol was their star bowler, as he took 2 wickets in four overs while conceding just 27 runs.
Rajshahi Warriors started the second innings on a strong note. Their openers, Tanzid Hasan and Muhammad Waseem, took down the Noakhali bowlers confidently to score quick runs in the Powerplay. The striking of Muhammad Waseem was especially impressive, as he played his natural game to put pressure on the opposition.
The innings of Muhammad Waseem set the foundation of the chase for Rajshahi Warriors. He got out after scoring 60 runs off just 35 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. After his dismissal, the middle order of Warriors faced some setbacks, but a careful batting by Ryan Burl helped them to seal the chase. The Zimbabwean allrounder played a little cameo of 19 runs that allowed Rajshahi Warriors to complete the chase in the 19 overs.
By winning this match, Rajshahi Warriors are now placed at the fourth position on the points table. Muhammad Waseem was named Player of the Match, as his superlative knock of 60 runs gave Rajshahi Warriors an early impetus to pursue the target confidently.
