Rajshahi Warriors defeated Chattogram Royals in a thrilling finish at the Mirpur cricket stadium. A strong batting display by Mushfiqur Rahim and Akbar Ali helped them to chase down the target in the final over of the match. Chattogram Royals bowled superbly in the second innings, however, they failed to counter the brilliance of Mushfiqur in the end.
Batting first, Chattogram Royals didn’t get a good start, as Mohammad Naim lost his wicket early in the Powerplay. The other opener, Mohammad Haris, played positively despite losing Naim, but he also lost his wicket after scoring just 16 runs.
The middle order of Royals then failed badly, as no batter took the responsibility to play a long innings. Hasan Nawaz was once again poor with the bat, scoring just 18 off 24 balls. His dismissal brought more pressure to the Royals, as the team was expecting him to play a big knock.
After the failure of the middle order, Asif Ali played a solid cameo towards the end of the innings to lift the team's scoring rate. Due to his quick 39 runs, Chattogram Royals managed to score 125 at the end of the first innings.
When Rajshahi Warriors came out to chase the target, they also struggled badly in the Powerplay. Their top order was removed quickly by Shoriful Islam, as no batter was able to give the team a strong start.
After the top order dismissal, the veteran Mushfiqur Rahim came to the crease and played with confidence to take the chase forward. His partnership with Akbar Ali was crucial, as it brought Rajshahi Warriors back into the game. Both players negated the spin attack of Royals sensibly in the middle overs, giving the team a strong impetus to chase the target.
Akbar Ali then lost his wicket after scoring 48 runs, hitting five boundaries in total. His wicket brought a bit of pressure on Warriors, however, the experienced hand of Mushfiqur Rahim led the team over the finish line. Due to his unbeaten 46 runs, Rajshahi Warriors nailed the chase and won the match in the final over by 3 wickets.
