South Africa’s fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada sustained a right ankle injury and has been officially ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Australia. This has been confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA).
The announcement came an hour prior the first ODI, after a scan on Monday morning confirmed the severity of Rabada’s injury. He will remain in Australia under the care of the Proteas’ medical staff undergoing treatment as the series progresses.
In Rabada’s absence, left-arm quick Kwena Maphaka has been named the replacement and added to the ODI squad after an impressive performance in the T20I. Maphaka was not included in the starting XI for the first ODI as the South African team were cautious of immediate changes to their frontline attack.
