Minhas Blasts Quickfire 26 as Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United Battle Ignites in Rawalpindi

Minhas Blasts Quickfire 26 as Quetta Gladiators vs Islamabad United Battle Ignites in Rawalpindi

Islamabad United’s chase of 184 got off to a blistering start as they raced to 58/1 after powerplay. Chasing a daunting target, the United openers showed immediate intent, though Quetta’s disciplined bowling kept the contest on a knife-edge during the first 6 overs.

Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas took the attack to the Gladiators from the outset. Minhas is particularly aggressive, smashing a rapid 26 off just 13 deliveries, including four boundaries and a massive six. Conway (18 off 19) looked to anchor the innings before falling to Abrar Ahmed.

Abrar’s introduction proved pivotal, as he struck in his first over to break the blossoming 44-run opening stand, finishing his first six balls with figures of 1/6.

At the other end, Alzarri Joseph struggled to find his rhythm, conceding 16 runs in his two-over spell. By the end of the 6th over, the required rate remained a manageable 9 runs per over, but the loss of Conway shifted the pressure back onto the United middle order.

With Andries Gous joining Minhas at the crease, the match remains finely balanced as the field restrictions lift.
