PSL 2026 Set to Grow as PCB Receives 12 Bids for Two New Teams

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received a strong and diverse response to its tender for the sale of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. This reflects the league’s growing global popularity, which is impressive for the cricket fans.

Global Interest Surges

According to the PCB, 12 parties from five continents, including the United States, Australia, Canada, the UAE, and Pakistan, submitted formal bids within the extended deadline.

“This response highlights the PSL’s increasing international footprint and its commercial appeal beyond Pakistan,” the board said.

The deadline for submissions was extended to December 24 due to bank holidays and requests from prospective bidders. This action was taken to ensure maximum participation in this crucial phase of the league’s expansion.

First Major Restructuring in Seven Years

The PSL, which began in 2016 with five teams, saw its first expansion in 2018 with the inclusion of Multan Sultans. The addition of two new franchises will bring the total to eight teams, marking the league’s first major restructuring in 7 years. Fans are now eagerly waiting for this PSL 2026 to watch stunning cricket in Pakistan.

The initial outcome of the tender process will be announced on December 27, after which technically qualified bidders will be invited to an open competition auction on January 8 at the Islamabad Convention Centre. This final stage will determine the official owners of the two new teams ahead of the 2026 PSL season.

Commercial Growth and Fan Excitement

Experts see the strong response as a sign of the PSL’s rise as a globally recognized T20 league. The expansion will not only increase the competition, but also broaden the league’s fan base.
