The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced February 3 as the deadline for the six existing franchises to announce their player retentions. This exclusive announcement was made by the social media handles of the PSL, stating, “Countdown begins. The six original [PSL] franchises must confirm their retention by 3 February 2026.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced the category renewals of 89 national cricketers linked with the six PSL franchises. The retention deadline has been set for February 3, after which the historic PSL 11 auction will take place on February 11. This will be the first time in the league’s history that teams will pick players through an IPL-style auction, which promises more lucrative salaries for both national and international star players.
Besides Multan Sultans, all five franchises have renewed their contracts for another decade with the PCB, so their respective managements will announce the player retentions by February 3. For Multan Sultans, the PCB has constituted an independent panel that will oversee the retention process of various players effectively.
The upcoming PSL 11 promises to be an even bigger event, as the league has expanded to eight teams, with Hyderabad and Sialkot Stallionz joining as the new franchises. This has scaled up the excitement of cricket fans who were eagerly waiting for the league to grow bigger for quite some time.
Speaking about the players auction, the PCB has announced the base prices for players along with the minimum incremental bids in Pakistani Rupees. This will give franchise owners and managements a clear framework for player valuations ahead of the auction. It would be interesting to see how big franchises will go for various national and international stars who are expected to light up the upcoming PSL 2026 in a grand fashion.
