PSL 11: Multan Franchise Acquired by Walee Technologies, Rebranded as Rawalpindi

PSL 11: Multan Franchise Acquired by Walee Technologies, Rebranded as Rawalpindi

The PSL franchise auction for the Multan team took place at the Expo Centre in Lahore, attracting intense competition from five bidders: Walee Technologies, Aim Next Inc., Deharki Sugar Mills (DSM), Particle Igniter, and CD Ventures. The base price for the Multan team was set at PKR 1,820,000,000.

Bidding escalated quickly, with multiple rounds of counters. CD Ventures opened the auction with a bid of PKR 1,830,000,000, which Walee Technologies immediately responded to with PKR 1,900,000,000.

The contest continued with rapid increments from all bidders, culminating in a final Walee Technologies bid of PKR 2,450,000,000. The auction highlighted intense competition, with companies strategically using timeouts to consult their teams before placing subsequent offers.

Franchise Ownership and Background

The Multan franchise, formerly known as Multan Sultans, became available after former owner Ali Tareen decided not to renew his contract in November 2025, citing ongoing differences with the PCB. Despite this, Tareen’s company, DSM, participated in the auction, keeping former ownership in play.

Historically, the Multan Sultans have been strong performers in PSL, winning the title in 2021 under Mohammad Rizwan and finishing as runners-up for the next three seasons. With the franchise now under Walee Technologies and rebranded as Rawalpindi, expectations for competitive performance remain high.

Auction Rules Recap

The PCB outlined the auction rules carefully. All bids were required to be placed in Pakistani Rupees (PKR), with a minimum incremental bid set at PKR 10,000,000. Bidders had the freedom to exceed this minimum increment without any restrictions.

Additionally, each bidder was allowed a single strategic timeout of up to five minutes per round to consult their team before submitting the next offer. These rules ensured transparency throughout the auction and allowed companies to make calculated and informed bids for the franchise.

What This Means for PSL 11

The renaming to Rawalpindi signals a new era for the franchise. Walee Technologies aims to build a competitive squad for the upcoming PSL 11 season, leveraging the experience of past Multan Sultans players and the fresh energy of new recruits. Fans will be watching closely to see how the team performs under its new banner.
