Prize Money For The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Champions 2024

On Monday, the International Cricket Council announced the coveted prize money for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Champions 2024.

This year’s cricket World Cup has broken many past records. Like the number of teams, ICC has also increased the World Cup prize money for the champions to a record $2.45 million from the overall historic prize pot of $11.25 million.

This higher than ever prize money also comes with the majestic World Cup trophy that the winning side will lift at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 29th June.

Apart from the winner’s prize, the runner up will also receive a magnificent amount of $1.28 million.

What will be the prize for the T20 World Cup 2024 participants?

All the participating teams will receive at least $225,000 and the losing semi-finalists will walk away with $787,500 each.

The four teams who fail to win during the Super-8 stage will receive $382,500 each while the teams placed 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th receive $247,500 each.

Moreover, each team would receive an additional amount of $31,154 for each match that they win excluding the semi-finals and the final.

According to the press release, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said: “This event is historic in so many ways so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that.”

This can be estimated from the fact that in the T20 World Cup 2022, the total prize pool was $5.6 million and the winning team England received $1.6 million as prize money.

Undoubtedly, ICC has taken every step to motivate the players to give their career best performances during the T20 World Cup 2024.

Out of the total 55 matches, the first 40 matches will be from the group stage, and the top two teams from each group at the conclusion of this stage will progress to the Super-8 stage.

Four teams will then qualify for the semi-finals, which will be staged in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, ending with the final in Barbados where the 2024 men’s champions will be crowned.

The ICC Chief is hoping this tournament to be an out of the world event where the players as well as the audiences have the best time of their lives.
