Rovman Powell played a match-winning knock against Bangladesh in the 1st T20I at Chattogram. This was his 100th T20I match, so making it special with a fine innings was something Powell was very proud of. After the match, he credited his batting approach, which has so far brought him plenty of success in international cricket. It should be noted that Powell has been a top performer for West Indies during the last few years, hence his approach with the bat cannot be doubted by anyone.

While speaking to the media, Powell mentioned the hard work he has done over the last few years. He also thanked his family and teammates for their support throughout his journey, saying that playing his 100th match for the West Indies wouldn’t have been possible without them.

"I am very happy. It is not always that someone gets to play 100 T20Is, especially for West Indies. It shows the hard work that I have done in the duration of my career. A lot of credit goes to my family and friends, and the players with whom I have played these 100 matches. It is very special to get Man-of-the-Match award in my 100th game.” said Rovman Powell.

He then described his batting template with which he usually scores in different matches. It is basically a quite simple approach in which he tries to take the game deep after getting a good start.

"I think it's a batting template that I have used in the last year or two. I have had good success with it. I try to get a start and get into the last five overs when I try to hit as many sixes as possible." said Rovman Powell.

Speaking about the match, he said that West Indies did well by taking regular wickets of the Bangladesh team. He said that if any of the main Bangladesh batters had stayed at the crease a bit longer, it could have troubled the West Indies team.

"If one of the main Bangladeshi batters had stayed at the wicket for longer, we would have been under pressure. It was very wet in the end. Having said that, a lot of the credit goes to our bowlers. They stuck to their plans and picked up wickets at critical times.” said Rovman Powell.

The star all-rounder of West Indies is now hopeful to carry the same momentum in the next game. He is confident that his team will win the next match as well, provided they play according to the ground conditions properly.
