Pinkish Ball Draws Attention in PSL 11 Opener as Fans Note Kingsmen’s Maroon Kit Connection

A colour change in the match ball during the PSL 11 match between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen drew attention. The ball appeared pinkish early in the innings. The change was quickly noticed and became a talking point among fans.

The ball appeared discoloured while in the fielders’ hands during the powerplay. This lead to speculation about the cause. Some observers suggested the colour may have transferred from the fielders’ maroon trousers, while others believed the stadium lighting may have affected how the ball appeared on broadcast.

"Am I tripping or the ball [colour] in this match is pink?" a cricket fan, bearing the username fatimaaaaaaaa, wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"The Kingsmen maroon kit has made the ball pink," another cricket fan, bearing the username asif38689, wrote on the microblogging website, accompanied by a grimacing face emoji.

Despite the unusual discussion around the ball, Lahore Qalandars produced a strong batting performance and finished on 199 for 6 in their 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman led the scoring with 53 from 39 balls, hitting 10 fours and anchoring the innings at the top.

According to playing regulations, the ball can be replaced if either team raises concerns or if match officials consider it unsuitable for play. However, no immediate change was reported during the innings.
