Peshawar Zalmi Issue Statement on Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s PSL Pullout

Peshawar Zalmi Issue Statement on Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s PSL Pullout

Peshawar Zalmi issued a statement after their direct signing, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, announced his decision to withdraw from the PSL 2026 season. The franchise clarified that it is the personal decision of Gurbaz and they had signed him in compliance with all the PSL regulations.

The Afghan batter made a sudden announcement to withdraw from the league just a day after he was signed by Peshawar Zalmi for the PSL 2026 season. He said that due to some personal commitments, he will not be able to take part in the next edition of the league.

"I will not be available for the PSL due to some personal commitments. After the World Cup, I will be returning to Afghanistan," said Rahmanullah Gurbaz in a social media post.

"I'll be focusing more on my foundation work in Afghanistan. Thank you for all the love and support," added Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Just hours after Gurbaz announced his withdrawal from the league, Peshawar Zalmi issued a detailed statement clarifying that the Afghan star was signed only after receiving No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

"We would like to clarify to our valued and loyal fan base that the recent direct signing of Afghanistan cricketer Mr. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was completed strictly after he received full NOC clearance from both the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Afghanistan Cricket Board. At the time of selection, he was among the best available options on the official list provided, and his signing followed the prescribed process accordingly," said the Peshawar Zalmi statement.

"We further wish to clarify that this decision was taken purely on professional and cricketing grounds, in full compliance with Pakistan Super League regulations, PCB guidelines, and the established framework of the HBL PSL. No consideration beyond merit, team requirements, and due process was involved." added the Peshawar Zalmi statement.
