Pathum Nissanka Set to Miss Pakistan Test Series Due to Hamstring Injury
Pathum Nissanka will not be available for Sri Lanka’s Test tour of Pakistan, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury in his left leg.
Lahiru Udara has been called up to take his place in the squad for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship fixtures. He is already in Pakistan with the Sri Lankan ODI team and is expected to join the Test players before the series gets underway.
Pathum Nissanka picked up the hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s recent tour of England and will miss the Pakistan Tests as he continues his recovery.
His replacement, Lahiru Udara, has played five Tests and seven T20Is for Sri Lanka, including the recent T20I series against Pakistan. He has yet to make his ODI debut, however, his numbers in domestic cricket are exceptional. In List A cricket, Udara has scored 3,017 runs in 102 matches at an average of 32.09, with three centuries and 21 half-centuries.
Talking about the schedule, Sri Lanka will play a three-day warm-up match at Islamabad Club from November 4 to 6 before the start of the series.
Afterwards, the action will begin in Rawalpindi, where the opening match will be played from November 9 to 13. The teams will then travel to Lahore for the second Test at Gaddafi Stadium, scheduled for November 17 to 21.
