PSG have not had a smooth ride in their Ligue 1 title defence. They’ve also had a few shaky moments in the league phase of Europe, so they don’t look quite as dominant as they did in the 2024–25 season. Even so, Luis Enrique’s team has still shown plenty of their Champions League quality in recent weeks.
Right now, PSG are on their best European run of the season. They have won four matches in a row against Chelsea and Liverpool, scoring 12 goals in total, and have reached the Champions League semi-finals for the third year running.
No French club had ever managed that before Enrique led PSG to back-to-back 2-0 wins over Liverpool. They were unlucky not to win by more in the first leg, but any hopes of a Liverpool fightback were ended by Ousmane Dembélé’s double in the return match.
On the other side, Bayern’s 4-2 win over Stuttgart on April 19 sealed their Bundesliga title, though their celebrations were fairly quiet, almost as if they expected it.
Bayern have not won the Champions League since the 2020 COVID final. Since then, they have been knocked out in the quarter-finals four times and the semi-finals once, which adds pressure heading into this tie. Still, their current form suggests they are ready for the challenge.
Venue: Parc des Princes in Paris, France
Competition: UEFA Champions League 2025/26
In the last eight games between Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich, both teams have scored in only two matches. But with so many top attacking players on the pitch at Parc des Princes, this first leg could turn into a high-scoring game.
Both coaches were also able to rest some of their main players over the weekend. Even without Vincent Kompany directing from the touchline, Bayern have enough quality going forward to match PSG’s attack and could leave with a hard-fought draw.
