With a 102-run victory, Pakistan strengthened their campaign in commanding fashion. Their bowlers maintained pressure throughout, turning a steady Namibia start into a dramatic collapse.
Chasing a daunting 200 in the high-pressure Pakistan vs Namibia encounter, Namibia began cautiously. They reached 40/2 in the powerplay, with Louren Steenkamp anchoring the early phase with 23 off 22 balls. However, once he departed, the innings fell apart quickly.
From 40/2, Namibia slipped to 49/4, losing captain Gerhard Erasmus and Steenkamp in quick succession. The required run rate kept climbing, and the middle order couldn’t handle Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, leaving Namibia struggling in the chase.
Shadab Khan played a key role in dismantling the resistance. The leg-spinner claimed 3 for 19 in his four overs, striking at crucial moments. He removed Erasmus, stumped Alexander Busing-Volschenk for 20, and later dismissed Zane Green to keep Namibia firmly under pressure in this ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash.
By the 13th over, Namibia were struggling at 81/6, with half the side back in the pavilion.
Usman Tariq sealed the emphatic win with a superb spell of 4 for 16 in 3.3 overs. He tore through the lower order, removing JJ Smit, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, and Willem Myburgh to wrap up the innings at 97.
Despite a couple of DRS reviews late in the innings, both decisions went against Namibia, summing up a difficult outing for the chasing side.
It was a dominant and professional performance that highlighted Pakistan’s depth and control in all departments.
