It has also been reported that the much-anticipated Pakistan vs India match during the T20 World Cup will take place as scheduled following a fruitful meeting with an ICC delegation. The development follows concerns that have arisen about Pakistan's participation in the high-profile event.
Amir Mir, spokesperson, PCB, insisted that a formal request has been filed concerning the issue with the Government of Pakistan. The talks were held in a Sunday conference in Lahore with led by ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja.
The head of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Aminul Islam Bulbul was also present at the meeting and the main agenda of the meeting was to settle all the pending issues regarding the most commercially important match in the tournament.
The situation gained attention after reports surfaced that the Government of Pakistan had directed the national team not to play against India in Colombo. This decision created uncertainty around the February 15 match, which carries major financial and competitive importance in the tournament.
The 20-team ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has already faced disruptions due to political and security concerns. Bangladesh earlier declined to play matches in India, citing safety issues, which resulted in Scotland being brought into the tournament as a replacement.
In response to those developments, Pakistan authorities barred the national side from featuring in the Group A encounter against co-hosts India, raising concerns about the integrity of the competition.
Pakistan began their campaign with a win over the Netherlands on February 7 and remains firmly in contention for qualification. A forfeit against India would result in the loss of two crucial points and could severely impact Pakistan’s net run rate.
