Pakistan-Bangladesh Series Set For New Window As PSL 11 Expands

Pakistan-Bangladesh Series Set For New Window As PSL 11 Expands

Pakistan’s all-format tour of Bangladesh is heading toward a timetable shuffle as both cricket boards try to untangle a crowded calendar. The change is being driven by the confirmed dates of the 11th Pakistan Super League, which now runs from March 26 to May 3 next year.

Under the current Future Tours Programme, Pakistan were due to tour Bangladesh in March and April for a full bilateral series, including two World Test Championship matches, three ODIs and three T20Is. However, that window now clashes directly with the Pakistan Super League, forcing administrators to revisit the calendar.

Officials close to the matter say discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board are already underway. The tour will move, but the structure will remain intact.

Boards Look for Breathing Room

A senior source within the BCB confirmed that the series will not be trimmed to fit the league. The emphasis, instead, is on finding space elsewhere in the calendar.

Sources say there is room for flexibility in the limited-overs fixtures. The ODI and T20I matches could be rescheduled within an adjusted window, while the Test matches remain the priority because of their importance to the World Test Championship. Final dates are expected once both boards reach an agreement on broadcast arrangements, venues, and travel logistics.

The PCB’s announcement earlier in the day set the wheels in motion. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi revealed the PSL 11 window while addressing stakeholders, making it clear that the league’s expanded format demands a longer stretch than previous seasons.

PSL Expansion Shapes the Calendar

Two new franchises are due to enter the league, lifting the team count to eight for the first time. It is the competition’s biggest structural shift since 2018 and the main reason the tournament has been stretched over a longer period.

Behind the scenes, the PCB has also been busy beyond South Asia. Roadshows in London and New York were held as part of a push to attract international investors ahead of the franchise auction. Those efforts have placed the PSL at the centre of the board’s planning for 2025.

No formal update has been issued yet, but the signals from both boards point towards coordination, not friction. Pakistan’s visit to Bangladesh remains a priority bilateral series, and neither side appears willing to see it watered down.

Once the revised window is agreed, confirmation is expected swiftly. For now, the message is simple. The tour stays, only the dates are changing.
