COLOMBO: Pakistan’s chase got off to a shaky start in their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India. They lost three wickets for just 26 runs in the first 12 overs at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday.

Pakistani batters disappointed spectators at the start of the innings. Openers Muneeba Ali and Sadaf Shams struggled to settle against disciplined Indian bowling. Muneeb Ali got run out for just 2 off 12 balls, setting the tone for a frustrating start. Sadaf Shams followed soon after, caught for 6 off 24 deliveries, as pressure mounted on Pakistan’s top order.

Aliya Riaz’s short stay added to the troubles. She managed only 2 off 8 balls before edging one behind, leaving Pakistan reeling at 26 for 3. Sidra Ameen, showing rare composure, is present at one end with 9 off 28 balls as the match continues.

India’s bowlers kept a tight line, giving away only 7 extras in the first 12 overs while keeping the scoring rate below three an over. The early collapse left Pakistan with a mountain to climb in what has already been a testing match, both on the pitch and under the lights of Colombo.
