Chase, Greaves Half-Centuries Take West Indies to 344 Against Pakistan in First Innings

Captain Roston Chase played a steady half-century on the second day to help West Indies post a strong first-innings total against Pakistan in the second Test at the Queen's Park Oval on Monday.

West Indies resumed the day at 239/5 with skipper Chase and Justin Greaves at the crease. The pair helped the hosts add another 105 runs before the remaining five wickets fell. The innings came to an end at 344 in 105.4 overs.

Justin Greaves and Roston Chase, who had already put together an unbeaten 66-run stand for the fifth wicket late on the opening day, carried on their good work by adding another 30 runs to the partnership.

Pakistan finally got the breakthrough in the ninth over when Ali Usman dismissed Greaves. He was the top scorer for West Indies with 73 runs from 150 balls, including nine fours.

After Greaves was dismissed, Chase added another useful 35 runs for the sixth wicket with Kemar Roach before Ubaid Shah bowled him in the 95th over. Chase scored an important 70 off 126 balls, hitting 11 fours.

Roach then shared a short stand for the eighth wicket with Shamar Joseph, who made eight runs. However, Sajid Khan removed both batters in quick succession.

The last-wicket pair of Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican added another 18 runs, making Pakistan work harder before Sajid Khan dismissed Seales in the 105th over to end the innings.

Sajid Khan was Pakistan's best bowler, taking four wickets for 85 runs in 32.4 overs. Due to his strong effort, the visitors finally managed to restrict West Indies on 344 after a strong start in the morning.

Pakistan have now started well against West Indies with Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique looking steady at the crease. Azan Awais gave them a solid momentum up the order by scoring a quick fifty before Warrican dismissed him to give WI an important breakthrough. The visitors have scored 133 for the loss of 2 wickets, making the upcoming session quite interesting to watch.
