Sharjah: Pakistan powered past the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their second tri-series clash at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Fiery batting from Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz was followed by a disciplined bowling display. Fans caught every thrilling moment of the contest live on Tapmad, and Pakistan extended their winning momentum.

Pakistan did not start well after winning the toss and opting to bat first. In the first over, Sahibzada Farhan (8) was castled, and Haider Ali cheaply disposed of Fakhar Zaman (6). Captain Salman Ali Agha (5) also departed early, leaving Pakistan struggling at 74/3 in 7.5 overs.

But Saim Ayub rose to the occasion. With all the confidence of a left-hander, the counterattack broke 69 runs off 38 balls, with seven boundaries and four soaring sixes. He became the fourth Pakistani to hit his T20I fifty in just 25 balls, which helped Pakistan escape the precarious predicament. His dismissal in the 12th over left Pakistan at 104/4 in 11.3 overs.

The tide was next turned to young Hasan Nawaz, who lit up Sharjah with a power-hitting performance of six sixes. This right-hander made three sixes in a row in one over and reached his half-century in only 24 balls. Later, he registered a spectacular 56 off 26 balls with six sixers and two fours that got Pakistan past the 160 mark in under 15 overs.

Pakistan was under pressure even after losing wickets in the middle of the order, Mohammad Haris (1) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) failing to exploit their starts. The team then got defeated, bowled out at 207 runs on the last ball in the 20th over, and the target was small to set before the UAE.

In the case of the UAE, Saghir Khan and Junaid Siddique were the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets each, and Haider Ali contributed with two crucial wickets.

Chasing 208, UAE’s openers Muhammad Zohaib (13) and Muhammad Waseem gave a bright start, with Waseem blasting 33 off 18 balls. However, Pakistan struck back swiftly. Mohammad Nawaz broke through in the fourth over, before Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf piled on the pressure.

The hosts slipped to 79/5 by the 11th over, losing Rahul Chopra (11) and Alishan Sharafu (3) cheaply. Despite Dhruv Parashar’s resistance (15 off 19), the UAE middle order couldn’t withstand Pakistan’s bowling firepower.

Hasan Ali, Salman Mirza, and Sufiyan Muqeem made sure that wickets were dropping at regular intervals, and Mohammad Nawaz and Saim Ayub contributed their part, but the UAE ended up short of Pakistan by 31 runs.

Saim Ayub started with a stylish fifty, and Hasan Nawaz had the explosive knock of the night, which was accompanied by a full team bowling performance. Through this victory, Pakistan keeps their good streak in the tri-series.
