In a first of its kind, the India Champions have formally pulled out of their semi-final against the Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025). Due to this, Pakistan has automatically qualified for the final without holding the match. This follows an earlier refusal by India to face the Pakistan team in a league match of the tournament, in which the match was said to be played on concerns raised by the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Pakistan topped the group stage with nine points from five matches, having defeated all opponents, including West Indies and England Champions, securing their knockout berth on net run rate. Meanwhile, India finished fourth amid growing controversy over participation.

What It Means

  • Pakistan advance to the WCL final, scheduled for 2 August, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between South Africa Champions and Australia Champions.

  • The cancellation marks the second match involving India and Pakistan to be called off during this tournament due to non-sporting reasons.

  • Event organizers stated the decision reflects respect for "public sentiment" and reiterated that Pakistan remained prepared to complete.
