Pakistan’s national side started intensive training at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium today, gearing up for the opening match of their three-match T20I series against the West Indies, which begins on 31 July in Lauderhill, USA.
Supervised by the coach Mike Hesson, along with his support team, the team was subjected to a three-hour high-intensity training session, which included fielding drills, net batting, and bowling-focused routines. The focus was on the hot and humid situation in Florida and skill development on both power-hitting and executing skills in preparation for the series.
The Pakistan squad arrived in two groups, via Dubai, captained by Salman Ali Agha for the T20Is. The initial set featured marquee names Abrar Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Khushdil Shah, and the second group also included key players Mohammad Haris, Hasan Nawaz, and Sahibzada Farhan among others.
Shaheen Shah Afridi returned to the T20I squad after recuperating from injury—a major boost to Pakistan’s pace attack for the USA leg.
leads the T20I side, while Mohammad Rizwan will captain the ODI squad. Notably, senior stars Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi join only for the ODI leg.
This tour marks Pakistan’s return to the USA for a full international series. The game crowd is likely to be huge, hence the match atmosphere is a source of exposure and drive for the team.
Training day was not only about preparing physically, but also so that the players can acclimatise mentally and tactically on how to select shots, how to run, and how to communicate in the field within the specific conditions in Florida.
