PAK vs SA squads 2024

Both teams have announced their official squads for the upcoming Pakistan tour of South Africa. The squads have been selected by taking into account preparations for next year's ICC Champions Trophy. 

The Pakistan test squad saw some major players like Shaheen Afridi and Sajid Khan getting excluded. The reason behind Shaheen Afridi’s exclusion is to give him time to focus on the 50-over format in order to prepare for the Champions Trophy 2025. 

Sajid Khan, who performed exceptionally well in the PAK vs ENG test series wasn’t picked for the Pak vs SA test matches because the conditions in South Africa are expected to be more pace-friendly.

South Africa has only announced its T20I squad for the Pakistan tour of South Africa 2024. Heinrich Klaasen has been appointed as the captain of the Proteas T20 side as regular captain Aiden Markram is occupied in the SA vs SL test matches. 

Apart from Markram, several other important players will be missing in action in the South African T20I side due to them being a part of the test series against Sri Lanka. 

Moreover, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi will make their return to the side for the first time since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
