Oman Name Balanced Squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

The Oman national cricket team confirmed a 15-member unit that leans on stability rather than surprise. Jatinder Singh keeps the armband, a sign that leadership continuity mattered in selection meetings. This will be Oman’s fourth appearance on the T20 World Cup stage, and the approach reflects lessons learned from past campaigns.

Placed in Group B, Oman faces a challenging road alongside Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Zimbabwe. The opening fixture against Zimbabwe on February 9 already carries weight. Early momentum can shape a tournament, especially in a short format where margins stay thin.

Selection Calls Draw Attention

Kaleem Sana, impressive during the Asia Cup earlier this year, does not feature. The decision raised eyebrows, yet the selectors appear to have prioritised balance across departments rather than individual bursts of form.

All-round depth has been reinforced through the inclusion of Wasim Ali, Karan Sonavale, and Jay Odedra. Their presence offers flexibility with both bat and ball, a resource Oman often relies on in pressure overs. The pace group sees Shafiq Jan and Jiten Ramanandi retained, while Hasnain Ali Shah adds another seam option.

Spin remains a steady pillar, with Sufyan Mehmood and Nadeem Khan expected to control tempo through the middle overs. This blend gives the side multiple combinations without stretching roles too thin.

Focus Shifts to February

The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, runs from February 7 to March 8. Twenty teams will compete, with only the top two from each group progressing. For Oman, every league match holds significance.

Training camps, match simulations, and clarity around roles will shape their readiness. The squad may not carry star power, but cohesion has often been Oman’s strength. February will reveal how far that collective belief can carry them.
