Norway Coach Calls Kane and Bellingham England's Biggest Threats

Norway Coach Calls Kane and Bellingham England's Biggest Threats

Norway head coach Stale Solbakken brushed aside the idea that his team's Premier League experience gives them an edge over England ahead of their FIFA World Cup quarter-final. He pointed out that England's two biggest stars do not even play in the Premier League.

Norway has several Premier League players, including Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. However, Solbakken said England's standout players are Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, who play for Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, respectively.

Kane has scored six goals in the tournament and is among the leading contenders for the World Cup Golden Boot. Bellingham has also been in fine form, scoring four goals, including two in England's 3-2 Round of 16 win over Mexico.

"I don't know if it's favourable. Some of the players have obviously played against many of the English players," said Norway head coach Stale Solbakken.

"The two best English players may ‌not be playing in the Premier League. They're playing in Spain and Germany, so you can ‌also take it that way." added Stale Solbakken.

Norway head coach Stale Solbakken said the team's surprise win over Brazil in the Round of 16 has given the players plenty of confidence. However, he also warned that they must stay focused and not get carried away before the quarter-final.

"I think it gave (us) more confidence, but I think that... Every game lives its own life.” said Stale Solbakken.

"I don't think that any other team we have met so far in this World Cup has underestimated us. Every team does their analysis, a lot of analysis, so there are no secrets. That goes for this game as well." added Stale Solbakken.

Solbakken then praised the leadership qualities of Erling Haaland, saying he is a great captain who has led Norway from the front so far in the tournament.

"He's one of the boys. He has been together with these boys from under-16, 17 and 18," said Stale Solbakken.

"Many of them have been together their whole life, so they're ‌really enjoying this journey as well." added Stale Solbakken.
