Noman Ali Breaks Abdul Qadir’s 37-Year Record in Lahore Test

Noman Ali Breaks Abdul Qadir’s 37-Year Record in Lahore Test

Lahore: In a historic moment for Pakistan cricket, Noman Ali, an outstanding spinner of Pakistan, made his name by leaving a mark in the cricket record books after he broke the long-standing record that the great Abdul Qadir had set.

The 39-year-old left-arm spinner made this record when the Pakistani cricket team won over South Africa by 93 runs in their 1st Test match at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Wednesday.

Noman also played a central role in the Pakistani victory, with the hosts defending a target of 277, bowling out South Africa for 183 in their 2nd innings.

He bowled well with Shaheen Shah Afridi. Shaheen bowled fiery spells of pace and swing, while Noman's spin was quite unplayable. In 1st innings, he took six wickets, making his third ten-wicket haul in a Test match.

With his recent performance, Noman had now secured 46 wickets in his past five Tests, the highest by any Pakistani bowler in such a short span. The last record was 44 wickets by Qadir between his 48th and 52nd Tests, which happened in the 1987-88 season.

This not only shows Noman’s consistency but also his rise as one of the most reliable Test players in Pakistan.

During the last year, Noman has been in outstanding form, and it has made him one of the successful spinners in world cricket. His best run has 10 wickets against South Africa in Lahore, 16 wickets in the two-match series against the West Indies, 20 wickets in the home series against England, 11 wickets in Multan, and 9 wickets in Rawalpindi.

Through this win, Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match series of Tests. The squad will now shift its attention to the last Test in Rawalpindi, which will be held between October 20 and 24.
