Ngidi takes five, SA take the series 2-0

After what was quite easily one of the most grueling matches of recent time, South Africa come out on top and take the series for 2-0 as they defeat Australia in the second ODI. This match was truly one for the ages as momentum shifted between the two sides over and over again.

The match started off with South Africa electing to bat and giving a respectable total of 277. The real drama started in the second innings. Australia were on the back foot right off the bat with three wickets falling in rapid succession. With the arrival of Cameron Green and Josh Inglis, the hosts got some sense of security as the partnership was proving to be a fruitful one. With boundaries being racked up, it looked like Australia’s match.

Unfortunately by the 23rd over, Green was caught out and the chips started to fall from that point on. 

The genius of Lungi Ngidi helped the visitors regain control with Ngidi finishing the match in style, racking up a 5 wicket haul. While the match was intense, South Africa proved why their bowling is considered one of the most feared in the world.

With the 3rd and final ODI around the corner, we can only imagine if Australia will save face or will South Africa end it with a whitewash.
