Neymar Ruled Out of Brazil vs Haiti World Cup Clash Due to Injury

Brazil will be without Neymar for their second World Cup match as he continues to recover from a calf injury, the Brazilian football federation has confirmed.

The forward has also been left out of the travelling squad for the Group C clash against Haiti in Philadelphia, according to a statement released by the federation on Thursday.

“He will remain in New Jersey to optimize the final phase of his recovery process,” said the statement.

For the unversed, Neymar is Brazil’s all-time top scorer in international football with 79 goals, going past Pele’s 77.

Speaking about the rehabilitation, the Brazilian federation said the 34-year-old will keep working on his recovery at the team hotel facilities.

He returned to the training pitch on Tuesday for fitness work, and on Wednesday he joined parts of the team session.

However, the Santos striker has not yet taken part in full training sessions with the squad since joining Brazil while recovering from a right leg injury. This is certainly a concerning factor for fans who are eagerly waiting to see him on the field, as he is a vital part of Brazil’s plan for the ongoing mega event.
