India Headline New Zealand’s Action-Packed Home Summer
New Zealand's home international season will get underway later this year with a major tour by India, running from October 22 to December 1. The visitors will play 12 matches across all three formats, including five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests.
The matches between India vs New Zealand will be held at five leading venues around the country, making it the biggest inbound international tour ever arranged by New Zealand Cricket in terms of fixtures.
After that, New Zealand will welcome Sri Lanka for another all-format series in late January and February. The tour will feature three ODIs, three T20Is, and two Tests, bringing the home international season to a close.
"The New Zealand government will be supporting the in-bound India tour alongside adjacent sporting tours by India later in the year, as 100 years of sporting ties between New Zealand and India are commemorated," said the NZC statement.
New Zealand's home season will also mark the return of Sky New Zealand as the official broadcaster for NZC's international matches, with a new six-year agreement in place.
After completing their tour of Australia, which ends with the SCG Test from January 4 to 8, New Zealand will begin their home series against Sri Lanka. The ODI series starts on January 16 in Napier, with the next two matches scheduled for January 19 in Wellington and January 22 in Dunedin.
The teams will then move into the T20I series, beginning in Christchurch on January 26. The remaining two matches will be held in Nelson on January 29 and 31. The tour will conclude with two Test matches, starting on February 4 in Mount Maunganui and February 12 in Hamilton.
Talking about the upcoming home summer, the NZC chief marketing and commercial officer Glenn Critchley said that everyone is quite excited for the India tour, as it will give fans an experience of high-quality cricket.
"It simply doesn't get bigger than India and we're determined to deliver New Zealanders a tour like no other. This will be about more than just the cricket on the field, it will be a celebration of New Zealand's shared history and culture with India, and our burgeoning rivalry and friendship through cricket.” said Glenn Critchley.
