New York, New Jersey Stadium Ready to Host FIFA World Cup 2026 Final

New York New Jersey Stadium will play one of the most important roles of any venue during the FIFA World Cup 2026, as it prepares to welcome supporters for eight matches, including the tournament’s grand final.

Located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the stadium is widely known as MetLife Stadium outside FIFA competitions. During the World Cup, it is being referred to as New York New Jersey Stadium in accordance with FIFA’s commercial naming policies.

The venue was selected as one of 16 stadiums across Canada, Mexico and the United States for the expanded 48-team tournament. It is also one of 11 host venues situated in the United States.

Eight World Cup Matches Scheduled

The stadium’s World Cup schedule includes five group-stage fixtures, one Round of 32 encounter, one Round of 16 match, and the FIFA World Cup final.

Its group-stage programme begins on June 13, 2026, with Brazil facing Morocco. The venue will later stage France against Senegal on June 16, along with additional matches from Groups E, I, and L.

Knockout football will arrive at the stadium on June 30 with a Round of 32 fixture, followed by a Round of 16 contest on July 5.

The venue’s biggest moment will come on July 19, when the final determines the new world champions. In total, more than 80,000 spectators are expected to fill the stadium for the tournament’s decisive match.

A World-Class Venue Ready for the FIFA World Cup 2026

Opened in 2010, New York New Jersey Stadium is home to the NFL's Giants and Jets and has a capacity of more than 82,000 spectators. Located in East Rutherford, it represents both New Jersey and nearby New York City, offering convenient access for fans. 

The venue will host eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, including the tournament final, cementing its place as one of North America's premier sporting destinations.
