Netherlands Secure 3-1 Win Over Argentina in FIH Hockey World Cup 2026

Netherlands produced a strong performance to beat Argentina 3-1 in their FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Pool A match at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen. The hosts made the most of their opportunities and secured an important victory in front of their home crowd.

The Netherlands started the match with good attacking intent and eventually broke the deadlock through Thierry Brinkman. He found the back of the net in the first quarter, putting the Dutch side 1-0 ahead. Argentina tried to respond but struggled to make the most of their chances as the Netherlands kept control of the game.

Tijmen Reyenga then doubled the Netherlands’ advantage in the second half. His goal gave the hosts a two-goal cushion and put Argentina under further pressure. The Dutch side continued to create opportunities and looked more dangerous in attack as the match progressed.

Duco Telgenkamp added another goal in the fourth quarter to make it 3-0. With the Netherlands firmly in control, Argentina needed a quick response to get back into the contest.

Nicolas della Torre eventually pulled one goal back for Argentina, giving his side some hope in the closing stages. However, the Netherlands held firm defensively and prevented Argentina from making a late comeback.

The 3-1 result gave the Netherlands a valuable win in Pool A and strengthened their position as they continue their campaign on home soil. Argentina, meanwhile, will have to regroup quickly and improve their finishing in the remaining matches if they want to make progress in the tournament. They had plenty of lapses in defense against the Dutch, which needs to be fixed quickly before the next game.
