De Jong Returns to Netherlands Squad for Greece and Germany Fixtures

Frenkie de Jong is set to return to international duty after being included in the Netherlands' 25-man squad for their upcoming Nations League games against Greece and Germany. The Barcelona midfielder had missed the team's last four matches due to injury and is back in the squad for the first time since the World Cup.

The Dutch side collected eight points from those four Group A2 games and currently share the top spot with Greece, while Germany sit three points behind them.

New coach Xavi Hernandez has also handed a place to Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen, who could make his second appearance for the national team. Notably, his only cap came in March 2025.

Donyell Malen and Justin Kluivert have also returned after missing the previous international break through injury. Mexx Meerdink and Guus Til, who stepped in for the pair last time, have kept their places in the squad.

However, injuries have ruled out Nathan Ake, Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Jorrel Hato. Apart from them, Lazio forward Kenneth Taylor has also been dropped from the team.

The Netherlands will host Greece in Amsterdam on November 13 before meeting Germany in Berlin on November 16.
