Aasif, Sundeep Firepower Lifts Nepal to 173 Against West Indies

In the second T20I against West Indies, Nepal showcased a strong batting performance by scoring 173 in the first innings. This is a good score considering the nature of the Sharjah wicket, which mostly stays low and slow throughout the game.

Aasif Sheikh’s fine start gave Nepal a strong base, while Sundeep Jora added momentum with a lively knock, smashing sixes all around the park.

This is the second game of the historic T20I series between Nepal and West Indies, so both teams will be looking to win this one by showcasing strong performances. It is a must-win game for West Indies, because Nepal has already won the first game by 19 runs.

Coming out to bat, Nepal displayed a clear intent with the bat. However, their plans didn’t work initially, as West Indies took quick wickets to jolt Nepal early on in the Powerplay. The opener, Kushal Bhurtel, got out in the second over, while the captain Rohit Paudel lost his wicket in the 4th over. These two wickets gave an early shock to the Nepal team. However, Aasif Sheikh remained firm at the other end.

The opening batter knew that a stable partnership, instead of slogging, was required at that particular time. This timely analysis let him play cautiously with Sundeep Jora, as West Indies bowlers were keeping up the pressure by not giving free runs.

The partnership between Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora grew and ultimately became the deciding factor of their innings. Sundeep Jora played a splendid knock of 63 runs by smashing 3 fours and 5 sixes. His strike rate of 161.53 allowed Nepal to score briskly and come back into the game. Meanwhile, Aasif Sheikh held the innings from one end, as he was given the task to take the game deep till the end.

The cumulative batting performance of Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora helped Nepal go big in the end. Their stunning effort pushed Nepal to score 173 in the end, despite facing a batting collapse in the middle. Aasif Sheikh remained the highest run-getter for Nepal in the first innings, as he scored 68 off 47 balls by smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Now, Nepal has a very good chance to seal the historic T20I series by defending this total in the second innings. On the other hand, West Indies would need to chase this target to win the game. Most of their batters have been picked into the team on the back of strong CPL 2025 performances. These young stars will now need to showcase their talent in this crunch game, as it is a must-win match for West Indies to stay alive in the series.
