The star pacer of Bangladesh Mustafizur Rahman has created history while playing against India in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025. After dismissing Suryakumar Yadav, Mustafizur bagged multiple records at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He has now become the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh in T20Is. By dismissing the Indian captain, Mustafizur registered 150 wickets in the cricket’s shortest format, which is by far the most by any Bangladesh player.
The record was previously held by none other than Shakib Al Hasan, who is non-arguably the most famous cricketer in Bangladesh. He has registered 149 scalps to his name in 126 innings. This is certainly a big record that describes the caliber of Shakib in T20I cricket. He has given plenty of big performances for the Bangladesh team, not just in T20Is, but in other formats as well.
Surpassing Shakib is certainly a big feat for Mustafizur Rahman. He has now become the main man for Bangladesh’s pace attack in international cricket. His contributions for the team have always remained exemplary, which is why his name has now been recorded in the history books.
By going past Shakib Al Hasan in T20Is, Mustafizur also became the quickest Bangladeshi player to grab 150 wickets. He has done that in just 117 innings, whereas Shakib’s 149 scalps have come in 126 innings. This shows how successful Mustafizur is in the T20I format. This is the key reason why he always remains on the radar of top global T20 franchises, including the ones in IPL.
Most T20I Wickets for Bangladesh Men’s Team
Alongside this record, Mustafizur has now equaled the wickets tally of New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi as well. He has now secured third position in the elusive list of bowlers who have taken most T20I wickets. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is currently leading the charts with 173 scalps in 103 innings. Followed by him, Tim Southee is at second position with 164 wickets in 123 innings.
Most Wickets in Men’s T20Is
Mustafizur Rahman has secured this record in the Super Four match against India. Unfortunately, Bangladesh lost that match by a big margin of 41 runs. Batting first, India managed to put on a strong total of 168 on the board. Abhishek Sharma once again played a sparkling knock for the men in blue.
When Bangladesh came out to chase the target, they didn’t look much comfortable as Indian bowlers kept attacking them from the first over. It proved to be a tough chase for the tigers, and they eventually lost the match by getting bowled out in the last over. With this win, India has now secured a confirmed spot in the finals of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025.
