The Pakistan Super League PSL 11 will begin with a familiar name back on the team sheet. Sialkot Stallionz are officially Multan Sultans again.
The announcement came in Lahore on Tuesday. PSL CEO Salman Naseer stood alongside franchise owner Hamza Majeed and CD Ventures chief Gohar Shah as the deal was confirmed.
CD Ventures has secured a majority stake in the franchise, originally bought by OZ Developers for Rs 1.85 billion at the January auction. Now, the valuation sits at Rs 2 billion annually. Numbers matter in modern cricket. So does the identity.
Naseer made it clear. The request to restore the Multan Sultans name was placed after Shah assumed leadership, and it has been approved. The PSL 11 will feature Multan Sultans on the fixtures list.
Hamza Majeed called it a strategic partnership signed off by both the PCB and league officials. He spoke with calm confidence. Shah, meanwhile, radiated urgency. He wants South Punjab represented strongly again. That intent shaped the Multan Sultans rebranding news from the start.
Shah did not shy away from ambition. He described his broader approach as “Total Cricket,” hinting at a philosophy built around Pakistan’s long-term needs. Final decisions on the playing XI will follow once training camp opens.
Speculation had swirled in recent weeks. Reports suggested share sales and financial strain. Majeed dismissed talk of instability last week, confirming only that discussions were underway. Now the matter is settled.
Supporters in Sialkot were not forgotten. Transport will be arranged so they can attend matches under the Multan banner. The Stallionz spirit, Majeed promised, will still be visible.
When PSL 11 begins on March 26 across five venues, the spotlight will be sharp. A new chapter starts, but with an old name. In franchise cricket, ownership can change quickly but the legacy takes longer to build.
