Morocco Overcome Haiti to Reach World Cup Knockout Stage

Morocco Overcome Haiti to Reach World Cup Knockout Stage

Morocco came from behind twice to beat Haiti in the latest World Cup clash. Although Haiti were eliminated, they made history by scoring their first World Cup goals in 52 years.

Talking about the contest, Haiti took the lead in the 10th minute when a cross was turned into the net by Bounou. The goal was recorded as an own goal, denying Joseph the chance to become Haiti's first World Cup scorer since Emmanuel Sanon.

Morocco equalised in the 39th minute through Achraf Hakimi. The defender reacted quickly to score after Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide could only partially stop a shot from Brahim Diaz.

Just before halftime, Wilson Isidor restored Haiti's lead with a brilliant strike from long distance, sending the Haiti supporters into celebration.

However, Morocco responded again in first-half stoppage time, as Hakimi set up Ismael Saibari to make the scoreboard 2-2.

Placide then made several important saves in the second half, but he could not stop substitute Soufiane Rahimi's effort, which took a deflection off Haiti defender Ricardo Ade before finding the net. As a result, Morocco went on to secure a 4-2 victory and book their place in the knockout stage.
