The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, clarified the stance of the government when the boycott of the India match was announced earlier. He said Pakistan had no objectives for itself in this whole saga, as it totally wanted justice for the Bangladesh cricket.
While speaking to reporters in Peshawar, he said the PCB did not put forward any conditions of its own in ending the boycott. The board spoke on behalf of Bangladesh cricket, as their team had received unfair treatment from the ICC over legitimate security concerns regarding traveling to India.
'We didn't keep any condition [in our negotiations] other than Bangladesh. Our only aim was to get Bangladesh some respect, to right the injustice that had been done to them." said the chairman of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi.
For the unversed, the Bangladesh team was replaced by Scotland in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 after they refused to travel to India due to player security concerns. The removal of Mustafizur Rehman from the IPL started all this controversy, as it forced the Bangladesh government to think about the security of the team while traveling to India for the tournament.
Pakistan then took a firm stand by boycotting the match against India, which immediately sent shockwaves through the cricket world. The ICC subsequently initiated a dialogue with the PCB and BCB to resolve the situation, ensuring that the most financially lucrative game of the tournament, India vs Pakistan, could proceed without any obstacles.
"You've seen whatever Bangladesh wanted, it's been accepted and that's it. We had no personal aim in this. They can say whatever they want but purely, our work was only related to Bangladesh. That is what the government took a decision on. And when their demands were accepted and it was acknowledged that they suffered an injustice, then we have decided to play again." said Mohsin Naqvi.
