Mohammed Siraj Named as Replacement for Harshit Rana in India Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Mohammed Siraj Named as Replacement for Harshit Rana in India Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2026

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC has named Mohammad Siraj as a replacement for the injured Harshit Rana in the Indian T20 squad. He is a proven right-arm fast bowler who has played for India in many ICC events. His experience will therefore help the pace attack of India to perform strongly in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which starts from tomorrow.

The ICC issued a media statement in which it detailed the injury of Harshit Rana, saying the fast bowler sustained an injury to his knee while playing the warm-up match against South Africa on February 4.

“The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Mohammad Siraj as a replacement for Harshit Rana in the India squad," said the ICC media release.

“Fast bowler Siraj, who has played 45 Tests, 50 ODIs and 16 T20Is, was named as a replacement after Rana was ruled out with an injury to his right knee that was sustained during the warm-up game against South Africa on 4 February,” added the ICC media release.

India is gearing up for their first T20 World Cup match against the USA tomorrow, so the latest announcement will help them to finalize their Playing XI accordingly. The addition of Mohammad Siraj to the squad will give them plenty of confidence, as he has a strong track record of performing in ICC tournaments.

Besides Siraj, India has a settled bowling attack that has been performing well in the T20I format for quite some time. With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakaravarthy in the lineup, they are confident of performing strongly in home conditions to maintain their winning streak in T20Is.
