Mohammad Rizwan Reacts After Rawalpindi’s Eighth Straight Defeat in PSL 2026

RawalPindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan looked disappointed after losing eight straight matches in the PSL 2026 season. While acknowledging the poor form of the team, he also gave credit to Multan Sultans for delivering a powerful performance and winning the match convincingly.

Mohammad Rizwan specifically praised the performance of Steve Smith, saying he made the difference for Sultans by playing aggressively at the top order.

"We had targeted 170 on this pitch, but credit to Steve Smith for his [match-winning] innings. We had them under pressure, but it was his knock which took them over the line," said Mohammad Rizwan at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The wicketkeeper batter then said that his team is giving its full effort, however, some chances are not going their way, which is why they are losing matches consecutively. Despite these setbacks, Rizwan is still looking forward to winning the next match against Islamabad United by delivering a solid performance.

"We are looking for a win despite losing eight out of eight. We are making mistakes, and at times things are also not going in our favour, like a dropped catch today. We will try to win our next match against Islamabad United." said RawalPindiz captain Mohammad Rizwan.

For the unversed, RawalPindiz scored 166 runs in the recent PSL clash against Multan Sultans, with Daryl Mitchell hitting a half-century and Dian Forrester adding some quick runs at the end.

In response, Multan Sultans comfortably reached the target inside 19 overs, losing four wickets on the way. Steve Smith led the effort with 56 runs off 31 balls, hitting three sixes and five fours. By winning the match, Multan Sultans have now secured second position on the PSL 2026 points table with six wins in eight games.
