Mohammad Haris Joins Guyana Amazon Warriors for CPL 2026

Mohammad Haris Joins Guyana Amazon Warriors for CPL 2026

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris is back with the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League 2026 campaign, stepping into the squad after Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s departure for international duty.

Gurbaz will leave the tournament to join Afghanistan for their three-match T20I series against India, which begins on September 13. His exit comes just as the Warriors have established themselves as the side to beat in this season’s competition.

Haris already knows the franchise well. He represented Guyana during the Global Super League earlier this year, giving the Pakistan batter recent experience of the team’s setup and playing conditions. That familiarity could prove useful with the Warriors deep into their CPL campaign.

The timing is particularly interesting. Guyana have started the season unbeaten, winning six straight matches and securing their place in the playoffs with a seven-wicket victory over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on September 7.

Gurbaz made a quick impact before leaving, scoring 93 runs across his two innings. He struck 54 from 35 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen and followed that with 39 from 25 against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. His aggressive starts had been an important part of Guyana’s batting approach.

Mohammad Haris now has an opportunity to fill that gap. The Pakistan international has previous CPL experience with Guyana and was part of the franchise’s wider setup during the GSL this year, so this is hardly an unfamiliar dressing room.

There is another major change to the squad. Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been brought in for Mohammad Nabi, who is also leaving for Afghanistan duty. Nabi has been one of Guyana’s standout performers, taking 12 wickets in six innings at an economy rate below six.

Mehidy’s arrival is significant too. He was previously selected by the Trinbago Knight Riders in 2017 but never appeared in a CPL match. His move to Guyana therefore gives the Bangladesh all-rounder a long-awaited chance to finally step onto the CPL stage.

For Guyana, the challenge now is keeping the winning formula intact while international commitments reshape the squad. Haris gets the first chance to make his mark as the Warriors push towards the CPL title.
