DUBAI: Mohammad Haris hits 63 off 43 balls to lead Pakistan to 160 in their Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan began their innings on the wrong foot with opener Saim Ayub getting a golden duck in the first over. Haris then stabilized the innings with Sahibzada Farhan, putting together an important 85-run stand that gave Pakistan a solid foundation. Before going down in the 11th over, Farhan had made 29 off 29 with the game at 89-2.
Meanwhile, Haris proceeded with clean hitting and reached his half-century in 32 deliveries. His innings included seven fours and three monumental sixes which put Pakistan in the top hand until Oman counterattacked. The breakthrough came in the 12th over when Haris was dismissed, with Salman Ali Agha, the captain, next to leave, and was caught at deep square leg trying to take a big hit.
That double blow caused a mini-collapse to slacken the pace of Pakistan in the middle overs. But cameos from Mohammad Nawaz (19 off 10) and Fakhar Zaman (23 off 16) helped Pakistan reach 160 at the end of their 20 overs.
In the case of Oman, it was Aamir Kaleem and Shah Faisal who performed well, scoring three wickets each, at the most opportune moments to set Pakistan back.
