Mohammad Ali Set to Play for Nottinghamshire in Business End of 2026

The rising young pacer of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali, has signed a contract with the Nottinghamshire county for the final two months of the 2026 English domestic season. He is set to arrive in the UK at the start of August to participate in the Rothesay County Championship and the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Mohammad Ali is an emerging name in the Pakistan cricket circuit, and his recent performances in international cricket are exceptional. Keeping those in consideration, Nottinghamshire signed him for the upcoming season as their key overseas bowler. He is excited to join the team for crucial county matches where his performances can give Nottinghamshire an edge over others.

Speaking about the opportunity to play for Nottinghamshire, Mohammad Ali said that it is an excellent chance for him to be a part of a county that has decades of legacy in English cricket. He is therefore looking forward to performing strongly for the team in the upcoming matches by utilizing his skills and experience.

"I have always wanted to play county cricket and get experience of English conditions, so I am excited to have that chance. Trent Bridge is a really famous ground around the world, so I am really looking forward to playing there and helping Nottinghamshire to achieve success.” said Mohammad Ali in a statement.

“Being able to play red-ball and white-ball cricket is exciting, and I am looking forward to helping the team at an important time in the season." added Mohammad Ali.

The assistant coach of Nottinghamshire, Paul Frank, already has a good relationship with Mohammad Ali. He coached the youngster during his stint with Central Punjab in the 2022–23 Pakistani domestic season. Since then, he has kept a close eye on Mohammad Ali because of his strong character and bowling skills.

"It was Mohammad's character and personality that really hit home for me when I coached him while in Pakistan. That's what's kept him on our radar ever since, and I've kept a really strong relationship with him, from a distance.” said assistant coach of Nottinghamshire, Paul Frank.

"We speak regularly, and we've explored other opportunities to bring him to the club in the past, but this one felt like it was at a really good time for him and for us. He's a real pleasure to coach." added Paul Frank.

Considering the hype, the upcoming county season for Mohammad Ali will be crucial, as all eyes will be on him to lead the attack of Nottinghamshire in the Rothesay County Championship and the Metro Bank One Day Cup. He can prove to be a vital addition for the team, as his skills in controlling the game through tight bowling is proven in international cricket.
