Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season. This brings an end to a nine-year spell at Anfield. The Egyptian forward announced his decision in a video message shared on social media, where he thanked the club, teammates, and supporters.
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and went on to become one of the club’s most productive forwards. He has made 435 appearances and scored 255 goals. This placed him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
During his time at Liverpool, Salah won multiple major honours. This may include the Premier League titles in the 2019/20 and 2024/25 seasons and the 2019 UEFA Champions League. His trophy list also includes the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
Individually, Salah won four Premier League Golden Boots and was a key part of Liverpool’s attacking success across several seasons. However, his goal output dropped this season, with five league goals compared to 29 in the previous title-winning campaign.
In his farewell message, Salah said:
“Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
He added:
“I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life.”
Salah also thanked teammates and supporters for their support throughout his time at the club and said he would always consider Liverpool his home.
His departure will mark the end of one of the most successful individual eras for a forward in Liverpool’s modern history.
