Karachi Kings stand-in captain Moeen Ali urged his team to show more courage in the upcoming matches following their third straight defeat in the PSL 2026 season. He said the batting unit needs to take more responsibility, as they can’t afford to lose wickets in clusters every time.
Since arriving in Karachi for the second leg of the PSL group matches, the performance of the Kings have taken a sharp dip. The recent defeats on their home ground showcased deep problems in their batting which needs to be fixed as quickly as possible.
"We have been pretty poor since we have been here. Some good individual performances, but generally our batting has been passive, and we have not been taking the game on," said Moeen Ali at the post-match presentation ceremony.
"We need to be a bit brave, and we have a long batting line-up, so we need to use it as best as we can. Probably me, Khushi, and even Abbas can come up earlier," added Moeen Ali.
Speaking about David Warner, who is currently on the bench due to injury, Moeen said that he is recovering well and would be available for the team in the next match.
"Warner is better than yesterday and hopefully will be available for the next game." said Moeen Ali.
For the unversed, Karachi Kings faced their third consecutive defeat in the recent PSL clash, as Islamabad United humbled them by 8 wickets at the National Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Karachi Kings managed to score just 150, courtesy of Reeza Hendricks, who played a steady knock of 51 off 44 balls.
In reply, Islamabad United delivered a strong performance, showcasing their aggressive intent from the start of the innings. Both openers, Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas, played beautifully to take the chase forward, leaving Karachi Kings stunned on their home turf. As a result, Islamabad United sealed the chase inside 16 overs, securing second position on the PSL 2026 points table.
