The Australian captain, Mitchell Marsh, believes the team is ready for the Pakistan series with no real concerns about the quick turnaround. He said the series will help both teams to prepare their plans for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is slated to start next month.
"It's a really important time in both teams' preparations for the World Cup. Most of the squad has been in Dubai for the last four days training and getting together," said Mitchell Marsh while speaking at the pre-series press conference.
He explained how the team assembled in Dubai differently, as some of the players joined the training camp there a bit late due to BBL 15 commitments. Despite the quick turnaround, Marsh reaffirmed that they are ready to compete against Pakistan at full pace.
"Some of us have obviously flown in a little bit later due to Big Bash commitments, but we're certainly ready to go, and we're looking forward to a great series," said Mitchell Marsh.
Marsh then described the importance of the Pakistan vs Australia T20I series, saying it will help their squad to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 accordingly. He added that some players are missing the series due to injuries, but are expected to join the squad in Sri Lanka for the main event.
"Yes, firstly, this tour, as I've said, is really important for our World Cup preparations, and we've got some guys that weren't quite ready to be here, but they're back at home training and preparing to meet us in Sri Lanka, so absolutely no stress there from our end," said Mitchell Marsh.
"Yeah, we'll just come together tonight and pick a team and see where that lands, so it's obviously a big build-up for our World Cup, and we'll make those decisions later on," added Mitchell Marsh.
