Hesson Tips Razaullah to Progress Under Tait While Applauding Farhan’s Captaincy
Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson believes young fast bowler Razaullah has plenty of room to improve and can become a valuable player for the team. He also praised Sahibzada Farhan’s progress as captain after Pakistan won their T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-1.
Razaullah caught attention during his international debut in the third Test against England last month. He scored a quick 81 off 63 balls, hitting 4 fours and 9 sixes, and also took 4 wickets in the match.
His performance with both bat and ball earned him a place in Pakistan’s white-ball squads. Razaullah made his T20I debut in the recent series against Sri Lanka and picked up one wicket in the first match. He then missed the second game and returned for the final T20I, where he failed to take a wicket, but remained very economical.
Speaking about Razaullah, Mike Hesson said the young bowler has plenty of potential, pointing out that even top batters like Kusal Mendis had struggled against him in recent matches.
“When I think of Pakistan cricket, I think of genuine pace and unique bowling actions. He’s raw but genuinely quick, as even top batters like Kusal Mendis have found out,” said Mike Hesson.
“With Shaun Tait’s guidance, he can improve his variations and learn when to use his bouncer or yorker. He’s an exciting prospect, and we’ll see more of him in the coming months,” added Mike Hesson.
Meanwhile, Hesson was also pleased with Farhan’s early days as Pakistan’s T20I captain. He believes the opener will get better at leading the team as he gains confidence and learns more from each match.
“I think he has made a really good start. As you gain confidence, you begin to trust your instincts more, and that is something he is starting to do. He is also learning to read the game better,” said Mike Hesson.
“Captaincy is about having people around you who can assist you on the field and provide experience. Today, he probably did not have quite as many experienced heads around him, but I believe his captaincy will continue to develop,” added Mike Hesson.
