In a major shake-up for The Hundred, Oval Invincibles are expected to be rebranded as MI London from 2026. The potential name change, driven by the team’s Indian co-owners holding a 49% stake, would align the franchise with the global Mumbai Indians brand family.

The move comes as The Hundred prepares for a revamped ownership model in 2026, marking a fresh era for the tournament. While Surrey County Cricket Club, partners in the £123 million deal, reportedly hoped for “Surrey” to be part of the new name, early indications suggest the franchise will stick to MI London.

If finalized, the rebrand would see two teams carrying the London identity in the competition — MI London at the Oval and London Spirit at Lord’s.

Other franchises are also tipped for new identities. Manchester Originals are expected to become Manchester Super Giants, while Northern Superchargers could transform into Sunrisers Leeds.

The process of rebranding the Oval Invincibles would be the sixth global cricket team under the Reliance Industries brand, which already has the Mumbai Indians (IPL and WPL), MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20), and MI New York (MLC).

Such a radical move speaks to the fact that The Hundred is preparing for an age of internationalized franchise cricket, which is where tradition and new branding are on a collision course.
