Mehwish Ali Stable After Hospital Scare as Mahnoor Ali Marches Into Czech Junior Open Final

Mehwish Ali Stable After Hospital Scare as Mahnoor Ali Marches Into Czech Junior Open Final

Pakistan’s promising junior squash campaign at the WSF Czech Junior Open 2026 was jolted on Saturday after Mehwish Ali suffered a serious medical emergency during her semifinal match, prompting immediate intervention and a halt to play. The good news followed hours later: Mehwish is now out of danger and recovering under medical supervision.

The incident unfolded midway through a one-sided semifinal in which Mehwish had been firmly in control. She suddenly collapsed, forcing officials and medical staff to rush onto the court. With the situation deemed critical, she was transferred straight to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring. Doctors later confirmed that her heart had come under severe stress due to insufficient oxygen supply, leaving her unconscious for nearly seven hours.

By the end of the day, Mehwish regained consciousness.

Ali Sisters Continue Strong Run

While concern surrounded Mehwish’s health, Pakistan’s presence at the tournament remained strong through the Ali sisters. Mahnoor Ali booked her place in the final with a commanding straight-games victory over Tarasova, winning 11–5, 11–6, 11–7 to underline her authority and composure on the big stage.

Sehrish Ali also impressed with her fighting display but fell short against second seed Johanna Reháková of the host nation in the semifinals, ending her run after a competitive contest.

The episode slightly dimmed what has otherwise been an impressive showing for Pakistan at the WSF Czech Junior Open 2026, a Junior Gold Circuit event under the European Squash Federation.
