“Money” is Back! Floyd Mayweather Ends Retirement, Sets Professional Return Following Mike Tyson Blockbuster

Floyd Mayweather has officially reignited the professional boxing conversation. The unbeaten former champion confirmed he will return to sanctioned competition following his scheduled exhibition with Mike Tyson this spring, signaling that the Floyd Mayweather comeback is more than promotional smoke.

Now 48, Mayweather walked away in 2017 with a pristine 50-0 record, sealing his final official win against Conor McGregor. Since then, he has remained active in high-profile exhibitions, but this time the tone is different. A professional bout is tentatively penciled in for the summer, with the opponent yet to be revealed.

“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said.

True to form, Mayweather framed the return in financial and global terms as much as competitive ones.

“From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards, no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event, than my events.”

The upcoming Mike Tyson exhibition, widely reported for April 25 in Congo, has yet to receive official confirmation on venue details. Tyson, 59, last fought in November 2024, dropping a one-sided contest to Jake Paul before nearly 70,000 fans in Texas, in a bout streamed globally via Netflix.

Mayweather, once Forbes’ highest-paid athlete with $300 million earned in 2015, remains one of boxing’s most polarizing figures. Critics have long targeted his defensive mastery and matchmaking strategy, while supporters point to his ring IQ, conditioning, and longevity at welterweight.

He recently signed an exclusive deal with CSI Sports/Fight Sports, further underlining the seriousness of this move.

Whether this marks a genuine title pursuit or another record-extending chapter, the Floyd Mayweather comeback has already reshaped the boxing headlines.
